Now that I think about it, it's been 3 years since I installed the SPP superwhites! I installed them the winter of 2001, probably very close to this exact time of year. The brand was Lumiko and they were 70 watts (korean made). I'm very surprised they lasted this long, i did not expect them to last but a year at most if i was lucky. I guess its time to clean out all the busted glass and order me a real HID kit.

risks with superwhites?
Is there risk in any of the rest of the electrical system with regular halogen superwhites? Seems like one could mess up relays somewhere if there's too much current.
Any thoughts?
I know full on HID is the way to go, but if one were to only have about 30 bucks to spend on his car this month...

I totally agree with cornholio. save it and get real HIDs.
I wish I did previously. that would be $40 more towards the HIDs I'm about to buy!
I see you have a 1997 though, so Im not sure if you've upgraded to projectors yet. HIDs pretty much need the projectors (or at least I wouldnt do it without, looks so much better). You can definitely still get HIDs for non projectors though. I'd suggest that if you arent gonna go the projector + HID route which costs over twice as much, still look into getting HIDs over superwhites. Trust me, superwhites put out like 1/3 LESS light than a regular bulb!!! I put in regular bulbs to hold me over until my HID kit gets shipped here, the difference is like night and day. THEN getting HIDs will make another night/day difference. Good luck with your modding!! Choose wisely, save for the good stuff.

what brand of HID kit do you have/where did you get it?
Usually manufacturers have one year warranties. Also figure out what actually went bad. Could just be the capsule/bulb, which wont cost TOO much.
