What color is Opal Grey really these days?
I'm a bit confused:
I recently ordered a MY 2000 1.8T Avant. I selected Opal Grey.
Now, the swatches at the dealer portrayed Opal Grey as a color almost bordering cocoa, with undertones definitely leaning towards to the brownish end of the spectrum. The Audi USA website seems to picture the same thing.
Yet, when I see pictures in the gallery, it looks to be a lighter, almost bluish-grey.
Can anyone verify this color conflict?
Thanks,
DD

Brownish, cocoa color is pretty accurate
I like the color, but it is not your typical shade of grey. There is definitely no blue tint to it. It shouldn't be that hard to spot one at an Audi dealer. Next to onyx, it's the most common interior color I've seen.

Probably depends upon material . . .
The cloth, leatherette and leather Opals are likely all different from one another. I have it in leather and there is no brown whatsoever. It is more grey/blue-grey. Perhaps the photos you saw are of the leather.

Two different opinions: see what I mean?
Has Audi changed this color a few times over the years? And does it matter which atmosphere we're talking about (although I thought it only came in Ambition).
And, for the record, I the material I'll be getting is the leatherette on the 1.8T.

I have Opal Grey leather in a 99.5 A4. The leather is a bluish grey, but some of the dash plastic can look a little brownish in certain light. I would not call it "brown" however. It might also be the influence of the glass color.

Opal Gray tint depends on the material (more)
I find the Opal Gray cloth to be very, very gray while the leather in the 2.8 in Opal Gray has a tint of brown in it. With certain exterior colors almost looks light tan. In the 1.8T and leatherette it is a combo of gray and a very light tint of tan. I'm sure everyone see colors different but that my opinion.
Roy M 98.5 2.8q tip silver/opal gray cloth (I see no brown in the cloth seats at all)

I just had to replace the interior scuff trim on my 99.5. It is like they
said below. It has a brownish tint to it. The part they sent me was from a 99 which I matched the part to in a friend's 99 Opal grey interior. In other words, the Opal Grey in 99.5's and probably 2000 MY are and will be the more brownish Opal grey. I've got to take this Lt Grey part back now, and the color diff. is obvious...
