What do you guys think of the new RSX Type S??

About low end torque...
I drove a 94 Integra GS-R for a few years before replacing it with a CL Type S. For the record, the CL Type S has 104 ft-lbs more crank torque (total of 232), and according to Honda, makes peak torque from 3500-5500 rpm. You might think this makes the Type S feel a LOAD faster, even though it's about 900 lbs heavier. Actually, it didn't. Here's my theory on why:
Gearing and throttle response. The way the Integra was geared, I rarely had to worry about low-end anything. Want 4000 rpm? It's yours in about .5 seconds if you're good with the (excellent) gearbox and not shy with the gas.
Now, with the G3 Integra (94-01) running up the tach can be fun or tiring, depending on your age and disposition. This is because of the relatively high level of NVH. Supposedly, this has been alleviated in a big way with the RS-X. Then again, no one complained about the NVH in the G3 until later in its product cycle, when it became the main drawback for the car.
I'd say try it out, since you have nothing to lose. Just don't expect it to pull like a freight train at 1500 rpm; be ready to exploit the upper reaches of the tach, as the higher-performance versions of VTEC engines (especially the DOHC ones) tend to breathe extraordinarily well. It is truly fun to redline the B18C from the GS-R, and I bet that hasn't changed .
