Default killer daily driver...id love one in black :(

Keep in mind though that is not an FI engine, so no big power boosts if its something you are considering, not that the car needs it.

it does have pretty high compression, but it is a turbo 2.0

Default Mike, let me be specific...

the Mazda 1.8 engine is a true turbo engine ala VAG 1.8T. It never had a turbo from the factory in the US (it does in Australia). So it has a built bottom end, oil sprayers, the whole nine yards. This 1.8 is a bored out 1.6, which was the engine from the 323 GTX AWD turbo car...and sees duty in the Miata.

The Mazda 2.0 is a NA engine, it is not that old 1.8...so to save costs and keep it cheap, Mazda went with a low compression turbo on a NA bottom end. So while it should be fine with stock boost, the most id think id do to one is a chip/exhaust/IC...you don't want a big turbo on that engine (but like i said, it does not need one).

I wish they would have just brought the turbo 1.8 from Australia here...but oh well.

PS the IC location blows chunks...be prepared to replace it

Default I misunderstood you first post

Yes, I've been reading the mazda forums and it seems that they won't touch anything more than 8psi.

One of the tuners was saying that anything more then 200 HP to the wheels would cause some issues. So it is certainly not a car to start trying to make the fastest thing on 4 wheels, but a great quick, nimble car directly from the factory.
