I bought my A4 at Blue Grass in Louisville.

I live in Indiana though and was able to pay Indiana tax of 5% on the car.

You mean if you're an Indiana resident, you are able to buy car at 5% at other states?

Blue Grass gave me the bill of sale and I took it over to the BMV in Indiana and paid 5%. I'm not exactly sure if you can just do this in any state.

I drove from St. Louis to buy my A6 from Bluegrass Audi. They figured the MO sales tax which was included in the check I gave them. Then they cut a check to the MO dept of revenue which I took to the license bureau when I registered my car.
