your car be either stolen or wrecked ? Does anyone have experience in this? (I remember someone on the board got about 33K for his stolen A4 in Sacramento, about 10K of it was from Mods alone) I have spent about $1500 in mods right now soon to be much more. I am just wondering if there is a point to how much money you need to put in before this is necessary. TIA

that guy was in a very unique situation....
I would sit down and discuss it with your agent to determine if it is worth it in terms of increased rates over value.
Remember too that many OEM parts are $$$.

if not then why not?
Is this because it will raise the price of insurance? It just seems like insurance wouldn't be so likely to cover stuff if they got blindsided by lets say 10k in mods...

if you read the fine print, you are insuring your car as it was build, bone stock...
anything you add will NOT be covered. The only thing that is usually not following that are stereo components installed in factory locations and there is a max on that.
Your agent may be able to swing things in your favor, but you have no legal leg to stand on.

GEICO non-renewed me for my mods on my 944
Definitely be careful about what you want to tell your agent.
I let them know about my wheels, cage, sparcos, suspension, 993 Big Reds, etc (we won't even into with the labor costs to install OR the 968 motor swap)...
Geico had no issues with the cage, seats, harnesses etc. for the track. They non-renewed me as the mods totalled more the $2k total. I agree with the earlier post that you're probably going to need to keep all your receipts and document the mods.
Also, be sure that any mods you make (such as stereos) are all FIRMLY bolted to the car in some form...if they are loosely bolted to the interior or laying in the trunk, you WILL NOT be covered regardless of documentation.
