What RPM does your engine idle at?

sometimes my car will idle at 1200 RPM. this seems high to me. othertimes it will level off at ~950 or so. where should my car be idling? it's a 99.5 1.8TQMS.

also, sometimes around 3000RPM when it's cold, I get a whistling noise. is this just cold turbos???

1.8t is supposed to idle 850-900 RPM.

your car will idle at 1200 if it is cold, ~900 is normal idle when warm. this is perfectly normal

the engine can be warm, and it will still hang out around 1200 RPM. it's bothersome

just another thing for the dealer to check on tuesday

around 900 rpm always, hot or cold ('98 1.8T)
