Default What will a Tip Chip do for my car

I have a 2001.5 A4 1.8T,Q,Tip with a APR chip . What will the Tip Chip do for me when driving in the Auto Mode and the Tip Mode? Who makes it, how much, and how hard is the install? Thanks.

Not sure about diff in Auto or Tip mode.
Giac makes it.
About $250
Must remove trans module (under passentger carpet area inside car) and have the "tip chip" replaced in this Transmission ECU

Ask me again in a couple months when I can afford to be without my A4 for a week for the turnaround shipping to AWE for the install...

Default Some shop do installs onsite.

My chip install it was done right onsite, took about 45 minutes. I don't have the tip chip yet but from what I hear from this guy at the shop(Eurotech in Atlanta) it helps prolong the life of your tranny and brings the shift points closer.

Default It will make the shifts much faster, crisper and better.

It does change the way tip mode acts differently than regular D mode. In D mode it will short shift, and slip the torque converter much more than in tip mode (between shifts.)

Get it, it will make you love driving a tip!

Default How many mile have you put on your Tip Chip?

Any problems? Issues? Anything out of the ordinary? Do you have an engine chip as well?

Default Dunno. I got it last year some time. No problems at all. I have a 2.8, but no chip either.

I suspect that a chipped 1.8t would be MUCH harder on the trannie than a 2.8 would.
