Hi:

My dealer has been telling me that it's gonna be a while before I can get an A4 2000 1.8T silver 5spd (at least 2 to 3 more months), thus he has been advicing me to purchase a similar car (but 99.5 model) which is already sitting on his parking lot right now for $1,000 over invoice (or $ 2,000 below MSRP)

Is there any merit to what he said? When will the 2000 A4 be launched?

Yeah that's probably true. The silver is the most popular colour. However, you can probably still get a bit more off the 99.5.
But hurry...word is getting out about the great deals available on these 99.5s
