Default When does the timing belt on a 99.5 1.8TQS need to be changed?

I have 48k on it right now (yea i drive a lot). What does the 50k service consist of?
Any additional preventative maintenance that anyone recommends?

Default 90K is suggested, but most drivers recommend earlier, like 60K.

I did mine at 85K on my '96
and at 75K on my '97 after the water pump began to leak.

Default My dealer is telling my 90k but the horror stories are making me very concerned!

I also asked him if they would change it at 60k regardless if it needed it. Of course his response was no. Maybe I should record his voice when/if the horror happens to me!

My mechanic said 90K miles is standard, but he usually does them at 60K miles

Default My '96 2.8 will be changed at 90,000. If it breaks before then...

...that's what the extended warranty is for.

Default 60k. reason being the water pump usually fails at 70-75k, which you should also replace. why take

the chance of a failing water pump breaking the belt and then pow! That's the reason I changed mine at 60k along with the pump, tensioner, pulley, etc. on my '95 90.
