Whole car respray

Whole car respray
Clearcoat on the roof, trunk, bumpers has failed and is peeling off. How would I go about respraying the whole car with the same factory color? I am not after $299 Macco job but at the same time paying $5K seems a bit crazy too. Has anyone done this? Any shops in the Bay Area you can recommend?

probably better off finding the panels you need in the color you need without any peeling
prices will vary widely, because levels of prep and materials vary widely. I'd be surprised if $5k did it correctly. It will get it done, no doubt, but it depends on the level of work you're expecting.
I'm a DIY person, and have painted before. The last car I did, needed zero body work. Not so much as a door ding in it. It was 110 hours of total time between prep and finishing. Materials was around $1400 - this was about 6 years ago, haven't looked at what pricing is now. No color change, same color, so I did not do jams, etc. All glass came out, to do it correctly. I was fitting some aftermarket aero, and wanted it all to be exactly the same, no shade variations.
If I was paying a shop to do this, it would have been an $8k ~$10k job, easily.
The good thing is, B5 parts are plentiful, so I bet you can find almost everything you need in good shape, then either wrap the roof, or paint it alone

Sweet Jebus, 8-10K sounds completely insane! For that, I can probably find another a4 with half the age and miles of mine and with OK paint condition. Boy, reality bites.
