Where is the radio ground? And would this still cause the sound when the radio is off?

It's in or on the alternator. I had a bad one once and it caused radio noise.

Default IIRC, the sound will stay when the radio is off, but I'm not sure...
not sure where the ground is located, but if you are able to pull out your radio (you need the tools), then you can trace the wire from the back of the head unit. If the car's under warranty, just bring it in...
