why do we need a downpipe on a turbo car?

Default why do we need a downpipe on a turbo car?
wat is it used for? also can i forget the downpipe and replace it with a straight pipe?

Default um down pipe connects the cat to the rest of the exhaust
we kinda need it...it also includes the flex joint
