Default Wierd noise when starting cold.....what is it???

When i start my car in the morning when it is cold it makes some wierd whining noise....up in the front like the fan belt or something......it goes away after about 5 min of driving...or when the car is alreay warm and is started it will not happen.....any ideas on what it could be....it increases intensity with RPM's.....is this bad or just a noise...or expensive to fix?....what could it be....should it be fixed right away?

thanks guys

sounds like a fan belt to me - those should be cheap to repair - most cars you can do it yourself
