Wife doesn't like it.
Haudi, all! Normally post on the A6 board as that's my fantasy, but my wife thinks she may be getting a 1.8T in the next couple of months. She tends to be a little picky, but when she test drove one over the weekend with the 3 spoke tip wheel, she complained it was too slippery. Darned, if I don't agree! I think it's leather, but it feels like slippery plastic. I'm really surprised. Anybody agree? What can be done about it? Thanks!

I love it.
It's leather, and will give better grip over time. Also, you can hurry the process up with some leather conditioner to help soften it. Dealer may have sprayed it with something.<p>Regards,

and speaking of "feel like a glove"....
my solution to a too-smooth wheel and a little bit of sweaty-palm syndrome is driving gloves. genuine string-back, thin leather. you can laugh, but after 10 months, they're as automatic as my seatbelt.<p>geo

Definitely sounds like dealer put some junk on the wheel...it's the best wheel I've felt in a sedan.

Yes, it's leather. No, its' not slippery on mine.
Put thumbs at 3 & 9 over the spokes and no slipping!<p><a href="http://registry.audiworld.com/audi/registry/details.asp?car=161"</a><img SRC="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/AudiWorldPics/2000/a4registrydl.jpg" BORDER=0></a>

Felt is right, it's ugly to look at though, with those weird looking dimples in a circle...
around the airbag, looks cheap, as if it wasn't stock, modified or something (the TT wheel looks better, executed in chrome all around). I like the look of the base 4 spoker better. Well, that's just my opinion... It does feel pretty good though. Too bad about the lack of steering feel when you drive, and the excessive weighting of the wheel (I do have 225/50 16 on there, so it's probably my fault). Ah well, it does feel nice to the touch!

Re: Wife doesn't like it.
Go to another dealer and test drive one, mine had 110 miles when I picked it up, and mine is great. Must be something wierd with the dealer of that one.<p>April 2000 Silver S4 Tip, Cold, Bose, P'zeros
