Will a bad ECT sensor throw a coolant light?
I just spent the afternoon replacing the coolant flange on the back of the engine block due to a small leak, and when I was done I noticed the Engine coolant temperature sensor was a bit erratic. Would this cause a coolant light to come back on?
I'm sooo damn sick of this light, I have no idea what else could be causing it.

The only other Idea I have is that since I recently replaced the oil cooler but not the expansion tank that maybe some of that gunk is blocking the sensor, but i've flushed the damn thing like 10 times at least...

The same thing happened to me until I purged the air out of the system. An air pocket was preventing the coolant from circulating properly.
It's been many years, but I recall unscrewing the coolant tank and hold it vertically or something like that. I think I also had to remove a hose or two and let the air out?

i had the exact same problem before, coolant flange needed to be replaced so i had it replaced, but the light never went off, so i had the code read and it was also the ECT sensor, so i ended up just replacing that also and it fixed the problem.

SO i get the coolant light, does that come on ONLY when coolant level is low or even if mixture is..
