Will the guage cluster from a 96 fit an 98?

Will the guage cluster from a 96 fit an 98?
THey look exactly the same except the center where the computer display would be there is 2 less boxes for idiot lights...the 96 has 4 and the 98 has 6. I dont think the 2 center ones are used on the 98 cause they dont light up when i turn the ignition on. Any idea before i swap them to see?

only difference could be the wiring harness.........
I have a '98 trip computer cluster laying around my garage, and I tried to see if it would fit in my wife's '97 A4 (no trip computer).....nope, wiring harnesses were different.

Yeah....all three plugs are different. Then i tried putting the white faces from the 96 on my 98 guages(which is why I asked the ?) cause they all looked the same and I found out the Dummy lights on the tach...like the check engine and the parking light light were in slightly differnt places....so that didnt work either. All the dummy lights on the speedo were the same though....so close...but not close enough
