We pay more and expect more. You would think that VW & AoA would agreee that the Audi should get the better of everything. The Jetta is not even the top of the line.

Search where? I've looked around....
you know somewhere that it says a Jetta gets 180hp because of "x" and a A4 doesn't because of "y" I am not looking for a concrete answer, I just think that if I buy an A4 that I should have more power then a lower family member.
BTW, I do have a chip.

Re: Search where? I've looked around....
The 1.8T is mounted differently than in the A4 when in the Jetta. One of the reasons.
It's also believed starting with the 2001.5, the 1.8T is actually > 170HP but rated that way in the A4's. Who knows why. Don't really care to be honest.
I should have more HP than a Nissan Altima 3.5 if we want to start playing # games and who's car is more upper class, but things don't work out like that.
The Jetta is a nice car, but it's still a VW and the A4 is an Audi, and people will look at it that way, reguardless of the stock HP.

Transverse vs. Longitudinal mounted engines, results in different exhaust configuration....BUT:
Audi had better remove their heads from their asses or else 1.8Ts are going to sit on the lot, they will not sell, especially with Mods being "sorta" accepted by warranters and dealers. And I really believe that if these cars were built to handle the extra hp that the chips deliver, then Audi would configure them like that to begin with.....I'm skeptical on the longevity of a chipped engine. Guys with Chips, don't bother replying, I've already heard the reasoning.
Its embarrassing to have to Mod an Audi to have to keep up with Stock competition....especially VWS, which are SUPPOSED to be less car!

A4 politics...
I suspect a lot more people would have trouble spending the extra (what was it $4000-$5000) for the 2.8 if there were only a claimed 10HP difference (190HP for the 2.8). Not that a claimed 20HP takes your breath away either...
