For you guys that track your cars - Brake pad question
I just bought a Stoptech BBK which came with Axxis ULTs. Stoptech literature says not to use them for track use which is OK since I wasn't going to use them anyway. I would like to avoid switching pads at the track, at least for my remaining events this year. Will I have any issues if I go with Hawk HP+ or Ferodo DS2500s?
Thanks

you'll be fine with HP+ and 2500 on the track, and street, but you may see extra rotor wear.
swap pads. do it right.
I run Pagid Orange RS4-4 for the smaller tracks and Hawk HT10 for the big braking tracks. Pagid Blacks 4-2-1 for the street.
I use Hawk HP+ in the rears for the smaller track and Hawk Blues for the larger tracks, or if I want more rear bias with the Oranges up front.

they are good for 1000F. so, not high, but certainly on the higher end of street performance pads.
terrible initial bite, imo, though and modulation is ...well, zip. not a fan for the track.

I roasted the **** out of a set of HP+ @ BeaveRun on a stock brake setup.
I am now running Carbotech XP10's up front and AX6's out back. Also upgraded to S4 rear calipers and slotted rotors. I think they will be good enough until I can do a BBK up front. Keep your ultimates for the street. I change to the track pads before I leave, and after I come home. Running them on the street is ok, to and from track. They just make an absurd amount of dust and noise.

out of those 2 choices go with Ferodos...
I use them as street and track pad on my A4 and they held up fine... though w/ my 12v I don't get huge top speeds on the straights. They lasted through Watkins Glen and VIR.
HP+ are also good pads, but they squeak like a stuck pig... so I wouldn't use them as a dual purpose pad for that reason. I have them for my Boxster calipers in the 4000 and they got swapped out as soon as I got back from the track

If you think the HP+'s squeal, try carbotech XP8's
I run the +'s all year long and at lower speed tracks like LIme rock.
They can handle easy usage on tracks like the glen, but are not ideal IMO
