Default If I had to guess...
I'd say it's a MAX 232 IC with a couple of current limiting resistors and a 10 uF capacitor.

Default lol! i wrapped mine in tape...then it wouldnt connect.
so i took off the tape. still didnt connect.

then i cleaned the tape goo off with simple green. it connected!

wtf!?!?!
