Default Your opinions please.....(front suspension mod)

i have a 96 a4 with bilsteins all around and 99 sport springs.
bilsteins set on lowest perches
but in my opinion the front isn't low enough
the wheel gap on the front is larger then the rear. I'm **** in the sense that i'd like to lower the front no more then 1 inch max
I don't want to swap just the front springs
is it possible to just have the springs compressed by heating them up??
I know this is an oldschool mod, but i think it will work
what do you think
thanks

Default If your Bilsteins have grooves move to a higher groove

This will compress the srpring and ln turn lower the car. Don't know if you will be able to lower a full inch though.

Default How about a couple bags of sand in the engine compartment?

Oh, you're *not* looking for a smarta$$ commentary. My bad

Default agree with 4rings but the cheapest, most reliable & more safest thing to do is change the sprin

Get some H&R Sports (not race in your case) or similar spring and add them. From there you can adjust the perches of the Bilsteins to get them to the desired hieght. One up on the back with all the way down in the front, or how ever. Heating, compressing, or cutting the springs will destroy the comfort, reliability and feel of the springs. It will cost you and your car more in the future. Look it up on google.

Default The 'lowest setting' is the 'highest' groove on the body of the shock

I might have misunderstood. I thought your perch is on the lowest groove. Which translates to the most wheel gap.

Default There's no cheap way really, just the smart way

I have adjustables on my car too. I have the on 2nd highest perch in the front and the highest in the back.

End result about 1.5 finger gaps in front and about 1.5~1.75 (a semi-raked look) which I like.

The combo is adjustable bilsteins w/ HR sports

The springs should set you back about 240 and depending on where you install another 300 or if you can do it yourself than great.

Check out pics in my pic poster if you have any questions
