And they wonder why knowledgeable car owners hesitate to use their services.
Do they even "turn wrenches" or "bust a knuckle" when they "work" on cars?
They want $220 (before sales tax) to do the following:
- road-test vehicle
- inspect windshield wiper & washer systems
- lubricate door hinges & locks
- inspect automatic shiflock and park/neutral switch
- inspect battery fluid level
- replace engine oil filter
- inspect coolant level
- inspect on-board diagnostics
- inspect manual transaxle gearshift mechanism and clutch
- inspect brake system
- inspect exhaust system
- replace engine oil
- inspect driveshaft boots
- inspect lights & controls
- reset service interval indicator/display
- inspect tires/spare tire

checks which take <15mins total should be billed at 1hr of labor?
they're already billing for at least 1/2 hour for the oil change, no reason the checks can't be included in that overall labor charge.

< 15 min? Now, I haven't done them myself, but...
That looks like more than a quarter hour's work.
Besides, I don't know why you think you should get *any* labor for free just because you own an Audi. I mean, I'm no fan of inflated rates, or anything, but I'll pay a fair price.
I know that with MBZ, if you need something repaired/replaced that's on the list during a standard service, the labor rate's lower b/c the mechanic's already in there doing the inspection. To me, that's fair.
I'd be curious for someone to chime in with how long it really does take to do a good inspection like the one audinaut described, since I don't personally know. Is it < 15 min, or more?
