01A Quattro question
I am looking to replace my B6 manual trans. The most available versions of the 01A are from B5's, specifically 99 and up. The only difference I can find, between a B5 and B6 for the 1.8T, is that the output flanges for the front wheels have a different bolt pattern, though the flanges can be swapped.
Does anyone know of any other differences that may prevent the installation of a late B5 trans into a B6 1.8T?
Thanks,
Paul

The rest of the transmission should be the same since both are 01A transmission. There are a few B6 A4 owners that have swapped in 1.8t/2.8 01A transmissions into their cars.
You are most likely talking about how the B6 has the same flange style as the B5 S4 which had tabs that stuck out with the hole, while the B5 A4 1.8t had a perfectly round flange. The hole sizes are different to, the B5 A4 1.8t was a M8, the other flange uses M10 bolts.
