Default 02 1.8T Badge Question....

Anyone notice that on some of the 1.8T badges that the T is red?? I looked at a lot of 02's this weekend, and could not figure out a pattern....

Any ideas?

Default Red = CVT

I have a 1.8 CVT and the dealer told me that the red T is how they distinguish the CVT.

Maybe, but red badge has been around longer than CVT. Sales guys make things up.

Actually I believe the old "red badge" was just a stripe on the 2001 "T". When I picked up my car (1.8 CVT) it had a red badge while all the other 1.8 quattros did not. This sales guy is pretty legit and would have no reason to make it up. He actually called it to my attention as a way to distinguish a CVT.
