2003 Audi A4 1.8T Transmission
HI, I own an automati 2003 Audi A4 1.8T , not a Quattro, and the PRND lights are all lighting up and blinking at the same time, also the gear shifter is shifting without needing to hold down the brakes, the car seems like it has lost power and sometimes drive gear doesn't work. I put my scanner and the code P0706 appears, it's seems like a transmission problem. I went and performed some checks myself and think that the Transmission Control Module TCP is faulty. Does anybody know if I am correct , the cost, where it's located on the Audi A4 and if I can switch a used one without having to reprogram it.
Thanks very much for any feedback

Hello,
I have the same car. Your car must be a CVT then so it is prone to that fault. There was supposedly recalls because of this during the time but not anymore from what I've read. Also, the problem is with the TCU if it is a CVT. It is in the back side of the transmission and there is another thread on Audizine the app/website that used to have pictures on how to take it out and all but photobucket had this thing where you had to sell your soul to see the pictures on how to do it. Anyway, the other option is to have someone from Canada fix your problem for $500 after you have taken it out and shipped it to them. This came from another thread on this website. You could search it up with the words "Audi a4 cvt tcm/tcu story" and he pretty much had the same issue and he just said to have it fixed that way for $1000 if you don't have a stealership doing the work and your mechanic is a decent man/woman. Goodluck with that one. I'm sure he/she will know the issue and have had experience so having a price range of $500 is a good way to talk him/her down otherwise take what you can get. Also, these numbers aren't exact. The man just rounded up/down. That's about all I can do to help. Hopefully this helps also, I'll keep you posted on where and what website in Canada can you send your TCU/TCM to for the fix. I just did all this reading up today since like 6 hours ago. Time flies when you are into what you are looking up.
