#3 Misfire.........
OK, I recently purchased a 2004 A4 B6 1.8t Quattro Automatic with 107k miles!
3 months before I bought it, the car was overheated and showed signs of a blown head gasket. I pulled the head, resurfaced the head, replaced the gaskets, fluids, and filters. I keep throwing P0300 and P0303 codes!
I have tested or replaced:
replaced plugs, swapped coils (bought one new for swapping), replaced cam position sensor, installed coil pack harness from ECS Tuning, tested all the contacts on the 4 connectors to coils, cleaned MAF, no signs of vacuum leaks, fluid leaks, battery full charge, etc. I haven't done a compression test because I can't find my tester, yet! Car has ruff idle to about 1800-2000 RPM, then runs smooth!
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

Is it using up coolant? If so, could be a cracked head. Pull all four plugs and compare; if that #3 plug looks 'cleaner' than the others, then likely coolant in the combustion chamber. But if all look the same and coolant is not being used up, swap injectors to see if that changes the misfiring cylinder.

<This low mile car will be bitchin' by the time I replace the final issue!!>
Let me preface this by saying I love my A4. But my experience has been: There Is No Final Issue. Only brief periods of calm before the next thing happens. True, these are (by now) older used cars, but for sure, they ain't Hondas! Thank God for VAGCOM. If you don't have it, get it. You'll need it.

One thing I love about Audi's is their change from year to year, and sometimes even series to series, is so incremental. I would say that the number of nights or even full days, that my car has been not in the garage or out in the full sun, is extremely small. Consequently, the Dolphin Grey paint looks like new. There is one door ding on the car, an assault visited upon the PO. Your general public person thinks the car is almost new. Almost any other 2003 car announces its age quite visibly. Kudos to Audi on that.
I've had a '78, an '85, a' 93, a '98,and now this 2003. I've never been sorry I bought any of them, although I did buy a' 89 Accord SE-i and noticed virtually nothing ever went wrong. But that was a special, enthusiast's auto.
Just don't get behind on your Audi and you'll have a great time.

My Audi experience started with an 88 4000 Quattro with the inline 5. Slow as crap, but very reliable and 33 miles per gallon. Next car I bought was large since we had 3 boys, so couldn't be an Audi. Next car I bought was for my first son, a 02 A4 (killed by a 4x4), followed by the current 03 Audi which I bought for me second son (which I drive now since I bought my second son a replacement), followed by a TT which my oldest still enjoys, and finally by my S5. I have recently pondered finding and buying a B2 turbo quattro, but need some space in my garage.
