6K for key replacement?!
So I purchased a A4 B6 while stationed in Japan. Loved the car but there was one problem. The FOB was severely damaged. I ordered a nice case shell thinking I could carefully replace all old parts with the new case... Well I effd up, while removing the immobilizer it cracked. So the car would do as its suppose to and only start for a second. Contacted the nearest dealership out here and they said they could order a new FOB and get it running again for around 400. Cool, I paid the cost for it, got it towed to the dealership and thought all was well. After 3 hours of waiting for them to program the new key (I forgot to mention this fob I damaged was the only one) there was no success and told me they couldn’t get the frequency to match to the ecu and they would call me with a new estimate. I got the estimate and it’s for 6k
Im not trying to scrap this car. Does anyone have any recommendations?
