A4 1.8tqm or TT(180 hp)?
Interior space is not an issue, but after having a 98 1.8t, i think i would like something a little more sports car-like. Opinions? How about the price difference? Thanks.

In many large cities, you can rent a TT. May I suggest you do so.
Both are very different cars. Take a good 20 minute test drive in the A4 if you can. Maybe rent the TT on the same day, so that you can have a back to back comparo.
The 180hp TT is actually better suited for around town driving than the 225, because the power delivery is more consistant. The shifter is far nicer in the 225hp car though. The hard top has a noticably stiffer chassis, although the Roadster is no slouch.
I really, really like the TT. I like how the power plant is more audible during acceleration. The Haldex AWD can be provoked into so fine high jinks too. The TT is too small for what I do, but a regular hatch back would be fine. If Audi had brought over the S3 on which the TT is based, I'd be driving one now.
The TT does demand more attention from you to drive it. Is that what you want ? The A4 is somewhat more relaxed, as well as being flexible when doing a variety of things.

Torsen is more efficient. It takes a lot to get it bent out of shape, and recovery is usually easy.
Haldex is more like driving a Mustang in that you won't find the fastest way around a corner, but you probably will have a lot of fun at low speeds.
One is crushing German efficiency, while the other is more playful. You pick your style.
In snow, give me Torsen all day long. I also think that Torsen 3 in the new longer wheelbase cars ( engine set further back in chassis ), will make it more fun in a hooligan sense. The A6 is currently easier to rotate than an A4. If that changes, I can see more corner throttle adjustment coming into play.
If you really want to go crazy and don't have snow, get the FWD TT. That light rear end can be provoked to come around under drop throttle oversteer. The very early pre-spoiler cars are the most fun. Audi changed the suspension as well as adding the spoiler and ESP because at speeds above 120mph, the car could become twitchy in corners, and spin out. FWD kills resale though.
