Default Any practical implications to debadging?

With luck, my new DB A4 Q should arrive in a couple weeks (NJ)... I've been lurking here for a few months now and I've seen lots of threads about debadging. I'm seriously contemplating removing the "A4", and the Audi rings as well.

First let me get this out of the way: for me, it's personal preference, the trunk looks cluttered, and I happen to think the rings are too large.

So I'd like to know: has anyone had any real-life, practical problems related to completely, or almost completely, debadging their car?

I'm thinking along the lines of:

- valet parking or attended parking garage... if
the guy doesn't recognize the make/model of the car w/o the emblems?

- tow trucks (if I'm not there)... if they don't see "Audi" maybe they don't think about AWD and they tow me as if I'm a regular FWD car?

- or any other potential problems that were directly related to the fact that your car was badgeless? police, insurance, getting car inspected, thieves, anything...?

Right now, I think my ideal configuration would probably remove everything on front & rear except "3.0 Quattro".

Thanks for your feedback.

IMO, badges are a bit silly and detract from an otherwise beautiful car. They're simply advertising and another symptom of a society which is preoccupied with status, image and branding. Who needs 'em!!!!

The only problems you might encounter are paint damage (unlikely if you're careful), and, if you lease, a lease agreement which prohibits debadging.

No tow truck guy will get anywhere near my car without me closely supervising.

Default I would definately leave the OOOO! This is what i did...

I moved the quattro badge, removed the 1,8t. On my current car, a 2.8 Avant, I just took off the 2.8. Don't ask me why I'd leave the rings, I just would. I do not like badgeless grills either.

If you really need one besides esthetics: rusting behind and around the badges.

So, your debadged car get ripped off. The APB by the cops gets brodcasted, "look for an Audi Sedan"

Well at least they don't have to stop each car to check what model it is using the badge, duh! :S
