Any practical implications to debadging?
First let me get this out of the way: for me, it's personal preference, the trunk looks cluttered, and I happen to think the rings are too large.
So I'd like to know: has anyone had any real-life, practical problems related to completely, or almost completely, debadging their car?
I'm thinking along the lines of:
- valet parking or attended parking garage... if
the guy doesn't recognize the make/model of the car w/o the emblems?
- tow trucks (if I'm not there)... if they don't see "Audi" maybe they don't think about AWD and they tow me as if I'm a regular FWD car?
- or any other potential problems that were directly related to the fact that your car was badgeless? police, insurance, getting car inspected, thieves, anything...?
Right now, I think my ideal configuration would probably remove everything on front & rear except "3.0 Quattro".
Thanks for your feedback.
The only problems you might encounter are paint damage (unlikely if you're careful), and, if you lease, a lease agreement which prohibits debadging.
No tow truck guy will get anywhere near my car without me closely supervising.
