nah, its related to Audi and their ridiculously unreliable fuel pumps.

just curious, do you typically let your tank get down to the red (below 1/4 tank) before refueling?

Default mainly because I'm trying to figure out how to keep mine in good health and I've read that....

fuel pumps generate a lot of heat. If they are submursed in fuel during operation they can dissipate a lot of the heat more effectively versus if the pump is exposed. I think when you run the car down to the red the pump has a good amount of time to operate while not being completely submursed in fuel, thus it can run hot.

I haven't taken a poll yet but I'm sure it's probably a common thing for those that have had pumps fail.

I'm sure it's not the main cause since it's obvious that a fuel pump should be able to operate during the entire life of the vehicle no matter what a person's refueling schedule is like.
