Was ist das? And why if its too tight would a DTC be thrown.....

Fuel Gauge Failure in 2002 A4

Love my new 3.0 A4 but am very concerned about reliability give I ran out of gas on a highway due to a faulty fuel gauge on a car with less than 1000km! I almost got a hit by a truck and I'd be taking legal action fast if that happened. Let's hope the replacement sender unit being installed makes my unhappiness go away.
