Automatic Transmission
I have a 2003 Audi A4 1.8t Quattro with an Automatic Transmission. Can anyone please tell me what type transmission fluid i am suppose to use. I am getting two different but the same answers. I will try to explain. When I looked it up on Google I got type G052-162-A2. Then when I put that in and searched it I got two different brand names. Pentosin Automatic Transmission Fluid Multi-Vehicle ATF1-1L @ $24 a quart and Valvoline MaxLife Synthetic Automatic Transmission Fluid Multi-Vehicle @ $12 a quart. Are they both the same? Can I use the Valvoline since it is half the price. I am about to change the Transmission Filter and will be draining as much of the old fluid as I can and I believe I will need upwards of 9 quarts.

Use Maxlife, that's all I've used for years. My B6 has 285,000 on it's original transmission, most of that time was with the Valvoline ATF. Buy two gallons at Wal Mart for the lowest cost. You will need around 6 quarts if the pan is dropped.
