Default B6 Tiptronic BT: I get a big THA-WUMP

when rolling along pretty slow (~10mph) and then hit the gas... slight pause while the transmission figures out what to do and then THA-WUMP. It's annoying at the least. At worst, I'm worried that it will cause some damage.

Any input?

Thanks.

Default I have the same problem when I slow down before entering a turn

and then speed up to exit a turn. The Tiptonic pauses and then down-shift with a loud thump. The dealer checked the Tiptronic and it said that is normal. The only way to avoid this is to drive in manual mode and shift to 2nd gear as I enter a turn. After exiting a turn, I shift to 3rd or auto mode. Audi Titronic is not as responsive and smooth as Steptronic on my BMW.

Default Not sure if I agree w/ your opinion re: Audi not as smooth shifting as BMW...

since I used to own a 540i earlier this yr along w/ my old 2.7T at the same time. But one thing I AM sure of...I prefer Audi's direction of shifting vs. BMW.

Audi: + = up / - = down in TIP mode.

BMW: complete opposite and not easy to get used to at all.

(Side note - MB tip mode is sideways, kinda wierd, but easy enough to learn.)

I haven't owned the BMW long, but I've driven Audis in TIP mode for over 5 yrs. I don't see an advantage in smoothness in shifting gears between the two. Just inconvenience for BMW as I mentioned above.

Default I hate the BMW one...if you lean into a hard turn then it goes into the tip mode and revs engine.

At least on the Audi its out and it will come back into D from the Tip slot.
