Default Which bicycle/ski rack for 02?

Should I get an 02 Audi bike and ski rack or something else?

I'm sure this has come up before but I didn't find anything in search.

-- Thanks.

Default Go to your parts guy, dont get the stuff from Audi...it expensive THULE stuff and no different,...

the parts guy (Dave) at my dealership gave me close to cost (and cost on some things) and saved me over 500 bucks (base bars, ski and bike.)

Default I went for the Thule... (more)

I have an 02 Avant and opted for the Thule with bike mounts and a windsurfing carrier. I didn't even bother looking into how long it would take to get an Audi rack, let alone the $$ amount. Also - if you ever change vehicles, the Thule is going to be more adaptable. I am not sure about the number of accessories, but would bet Audi factory racks are a little more limited in the number of accessories available compared to a rack manufacturer. But make no mistake, Thule, Yakima, etc. racks are still not cheap. I dropped close to a grand CDN for the full deal... but I am sure the Audi rack would have cost more.

Default Are Audi and Thule mounts interchangable?

If Audi are from Thule, are Audi and Thule mounts interchangable?

Default I dunno if Audi racks are made by Thule... anyone?? All I know is...

The Avant mounts Thule feet to the bars on the car. If I ever (God forbid) change to another non-Audi product, all I need to do is buy new feet and the bars, bike mounts, etc. will all work with the rest of the rack components.

Anyone out there own an Audi rack?? Any clue on the "true" manufacturer??

And where in Arizona you from Toad? I was down in Bisbee about a year and a half ago.

Default Get the Audi Rack. it is made by Thule. The rack is amazing.. and it follows the streamlined design

of the car. The bike adaptor is awesome.. looks charp. With this rack you dont have those ugly bars sticking out from the side of your car.
Again, when you get rid of the car.. sell it on ebay.

adios

The thing about AUDI's rack is that it doesn't have fairing, so it's not very aerodynamic.

The box of the base carrier is made in Sweden (Thule). The ski rack is made in PR (Puerto Rico) but it is an exact copy of the after market Thule ski racks, so I assume that it is Thule, too.
