I just wrote a response about the transpod as well. After seeing your post, I think I might try to use both. The transpod would make an excellent mount inside the armrest. It would hold the iPod securly and would supply power. I would then use your mod directions to run a a direct line to the head unit and hack those into the transpod's mini stereo plug. The transmitter portion of the transpod would not be used.
I have some questions before trying this...
1) Is there power already in a B6 armrest? Where? Does anyone know of a URL that shows pictures of this? Is the power switched or constant?
2) Is it easily possible to run that mini cord into the armrest through the bottom.
I might give this a try to get the iPod permanently mounted with as little drilling as possible. Your help is greatly appreciated.

I was gonna go with their adapter because it would control XM from the symphony 2... but since the symphony 2 doesn't/can't display text it would only show the channel number. ****ty.
