Brake line and pad upgrade questions
I'm doing the research and I'm postponing the BBK upgrade due to lack of $$$ and plan to upgrade just the lines and pads at this point in time.
So... Are all Audi stainless steel brake lines the same? Or are some brands better than others? ie. Magnum, ECS, Stoptech, etc.
I'm not planning on tracking my car ever. 70% of the time I'm city driving and the other 30% of the time flying around on the open highways.
So which is better? Mintex Reds or EBC Greenstuff if I'm wanting less dust? I hate having to clean my wheels every 4 to 5 days due to the rain we get in Vancouver.
TIA for suggestions/information that might be helpful.

i'm not familiar with magnum, but can't go wrong with ECS and Stoptech
sounds like your driving style is similar to mine. i plan on going with either ECS or Stoptech, and some Hawk HPS pads. i've heard the mintex can be dusty and has been known to crumble; EBC are supposedly squealy

Hawk pads dust a lot, would go with EBC or Mintex. My favorite have Mintex
I used EBC green a few times and they killed my oem rotors which the Mintex don't do. As for performance they were equal

SOmething to note....m...
Most BBKs include stainless steel lines (for the front). So if that's in your plans, I'd skip them for now and put the money towards the BBK o something else.
I have had EBC Greens, and they are OK, but they are tough on rotors. I am switching to Hawk HPS when I install my B5 S4 brakes (someday!). Hawk HPS have low dust, but if you go with their HP+ compound, they dust like OEM, but are slightly higher performance than HPS.

Hmm, which Hawks, and a lot compared to? I know 2-3 guys around me...
that drive HPS compound pads on their A4 or S4, and are pleased with the "low" dust vs. OEM. (Note I said low, not no. :-) ).

I'd skip the lines
Pedal feel improvement is marginal and little to be gained with steel lines just when street driving. You're really rarely stomping on the pedal like you would on the track.
A good set of pads like the Carbotech Bobcats will offer low dusting, high fade resistance and overall good feel and bite. Combine with some quality fluid like Motul or ATE, and you should have a very good brake system.
