Brake System Question
So my audi a4 avant is got me wondering, I changed front and rear rotors and pads about 25-35k mi ago, I have upgraded mintex red brand pads and there is a ton of friction material left. But all the rotors are groove pretty deep leaving a 'lip' of rust a the edge of the circumfrence and inner edge of circumfrence, it's like the pad does not straddle/cover the whole rotor surface?
I am guessing this is normal, but the car is 3600 lbs, and the pads will always out live the rotors. It must be my compound of the pads are too hard, but they bite way better than OEM stock ones did. I guess rotor wear is normal for GMBH cars vs turning them this I know.
But here is the catch so the 'lips' formed on the rotor cut into my brake wear sensor wire in the pad but never triggered a light? Also on one of the front wheels it chewed up the caliper piston dust boot. Do I need to worry about this and the uneven wear, I am trying to figure out is it my pads are too hard or my calipers are sticking.
Thanks in advance!
