Bumper Misalignment

Hello all,

After having my head gasket replaced by the dealership, I've noticed that the top-passenger corner of my front bumper is no longer properly aligned (see photos below, it's more pronounced when viewed from certain angles). Is this a simple adjustment (as in DIY) or should I insist that the dealership correct their mistake (at the risk that they might ruin something else)?

You can remove your headlight and reach down and loosen 3 nuts down the fender side

that hold the bumper down. Bump it into place and retorque nuts.

yep, or thru the wheel well, just pull back the fender liner.you'll need torx bits and deep sockets

Before you remove anything, I'd get a towel and a rubber mallet and give it a

few whacks. You're probably talking about bringing it in about 1 mm, and that's within the flex of the fascia.

Think of yourself as using time honored techniques of master craftsmen handed down through the generations.

Sure. Have you ever been to an automobile assembly plant? You would be

surprised at what you see if you think a rubber mallet and a towel is crude. They don't use towels.

Ok, after removing the passenger-side headlamp...

...here's what we've got:

I've tried loosening the nuts, pushing the two pieces in-line and tightening, however, it just springs back - which leads me to believe that the cause is elsewhere.

I think we need to try the less vicious options first; the rubber mallet might do more harm than good in this case.

Then you're going to need to loosen the two large allen bolts at the front

that hold the bumper to the impact buffers. Go to A4mods.com for a diy that shows you where these two bolts are.

problem is that you left the dealership

they could say that there is no proof that they messed it up and that you could have done it. Which is not the case but it is a technicality.
