Burping the cooling system???
New guy to the site here, so hey hows it going everyone?
I have a 2003 A4 1.8 T. Did valve cover gasket and I,m working on the Tstat. The fourms here have been a HUGE help!!
But I,ve seen a few things about having to "burp" the cooling system when I get it all done. Can anyone give me anymore info on this?

I didn't have a problem "burping" mine and I have drained the coolant twice in a year, once doing the timing belt, and then once becuase I felt the coolant was still too dirty. I simply filled the reservoir, started the car, and kept refilling until it didn't take anymore. Keep an eye on the temp gage. There is a bleeder screw on the metal coolant pipe that runs above the intake runners, but I have never needed it.
As far as burping the heater core, there is a small pinhole that is uncovered by sliding hose off the heater core inlet that is next to the battery. Slide it off, wait for coolant, and slide back on.
Make sense?
