Checking status of order from web?
Is there a way to check for your order on the web? On the order form (or actually, change of order form) that my dealer faxed me, i saw an URL of http://dbo.audi.com/dboWebApp/html/audi_pages/vehicle_order.jsp
I tried connecting to the dbo.audi.com website but it was not responding. This seemed to be a valid address - 199.5.55.129. Doing a whois on audi.com gives this information:
Registrant:
Volkswagen of America, Inc. (AUDI-DOM)
3800 Hamlin RD
Auburn Hills, MI 48326
US
Domain Name: AUDI.COM
Administrative Contact, Technical Contact, Billing Contact:
Domainmaster, Elliot Zeltzer (AP7808) domainmaster@VW.COM
Volkswagen of America
3800 Hamlin Rd.
Auburn Hills, MI 48326
248-340-5803
Record last updated on 13-Feb-2001.
Record expires on 09-Feb-2003.
Record created on 07-Feb-1995.
Database last updated on 14-Feb-2002 06:35:00 EST.
Domain servers in listed order:
NS24.VW.COM 199.5.47.250
AUTH03.NS.UU.NET 198.6.1.83
AUTH50.NS.UU.NET 198.6.1.161
But anyway, i hope my dealer is right about the amount of time it will take to get my A4 1.8T. He said normally it would take about three months for a new order - but since he was just making a change to his existing order, it will only take two months.

Same with me.
I ordered on Dec 13th but from a November allocation. Mine is on a boat right now. Should be real close to Houston. It left 1.5 weeks ago. So right now it's been exactly 2 months since i placed my order. And this all happened around christmas which means the plant was closed for 4 weeks.

Soon...
Apparently, soon you'll be able to track your car from the time you order it, to the time it is delivered. Len Hunt spoke about this in the Audi Magazine that I got in the mail last week.
Right now they're trying that system out with the S8 and the Allroad.

Perhaps it's an intranet site...
I have sites like that at the office...that I can't access from home. I'm not a network guru, but I think the computer needs a dedicated line or the right TCP/IP settings.
