Default coilpacks?

So last week i had the issue with the flashing engine light and rough idling etc, so I replaced all the coilpacks and it did the trick.

Now a week later it starts doing the same thing again, except it was more off an on. So I turn the car off, wait a few hours turn it back on and it runs fine.

Is this the coilpacks again? Or could it be something else?

Default Maybe fuel pump?

I'm not too sure, but just throwing it out there since my fuel pump went out at the same time as a coil pack episode. Luckily it was replaced under warranty.

Did you check gaps on your plugs?

Default When you say its more off and on... Do you mean the car stalls or...

...is there's an intermitten rough idle? Sounds like it could be a fuel issue, pump or filter.

Do you know when the last time you're filter was changed? If its been a while, it'll definitely worth replacing.

it was running rough as if a cylinder was misfiring... warning light flashing... then warning light stopped flashing and car ran fine 10 sec later.

so i pull over leave it for a few hours. turn it back on its fine.

Drive it for 10 min or so and it starts doing it again. Leave it for a couple hours, turn it on, and it runs fine again.

I just had to spark plugs replaced with the 80k service.

Coil pack issue happened about 1000 miles after the spark plugs were replaced.

Default Let me elaborate more.

With my beloved coil pack experiences, I'm dead in the water (stranded) within minutes of the Check Engine Light flashing. I pull over into the first safe place & call a tow truck, or rather have my insurance call them. Shutting the engine off & restarting seems to make it worse.

Default I've had this happen on more than one occasion........

Ingolstadt West in Woodland Hills, CA has been trying to deal with this problem for me now 3 times. The last time they sent the car to Beverly Hills Porsche Audi and had the engine nearly rebuilt and it was great until now. The oil light comes on and I add a quart of oil. The car drives great for 250 miles, then the hesitations start; at idle the car is fine, it's only when I'm in gear does the car hesitate.
I've replaced the coil pacs several times to no avail. I've also had the catalytic converter replaced, due to the fact that they said that oil had overflowed and ruined it. They also said that it could have been oil sludge build-up and that's when the car was delivered for motor rebuild on all parts that oil touches or flows through --- check this recall out, it covers 2003 A4's that have all their service maintenace records --- anyhow, it worked for me.
At this time I am back to square one and still have a hesitation problem -- it must have something to do with oil overflow.....any thoughts are appreciated.
