Curious about the way my car sits.
I just picked up my '02 A4 1.8T Avant with Sport Package and I noticed that there is a bit more space in the wheel well above the front tire than the back tire. Is this normal? The dealer said something about spacers put in during delivery on the truck? Does this make sense?

It's just the way the fender flares are shaped/styled - comes down lower over rear wheel (more)
You can see it in every side view photo of the A4. The test, if you think your car is sitting wrong, is to measure ground clearance at front and back...
Remember, your front wheels need clearance under the flare to turn outward - your rear wheels don't.

Here, I made a little picture of it using the brochure side-shot!

Try this one:

It's still difficult because the photos aren't perfectly in line with the side of the car, but I adjusted this one for the angle. (Yes, I realize the door molding, etc. don't go perfectly parallel to the lines, but this is the one the car angles up towards the back, for a sportier/faster looking appearance.)
Anyway, since the photos are hard to do, just look at your car in person and you'll see.

I think you are right...I just got my 17's put on my temporarily non-sport 3.0 and gap looks fine...
...unlike the unsightly gap I have seen on here and in real life when 17's are put on a 1.8T non-sport (at least those are the only ones I have seen, and they look a bit odd).

Who knows... I guess it isn't that noticeable in person. :) Your ride would be very harsh if the(m)
shipping blocks were still in though. Maybe your suspension just needs to settle? Was there a difference in ground clearance at the front/back of your car? (Try measuring below the doors)
