Default Curious... If all Audis and VW's may be sharing the 1.8T engine...(more)

There may be more CP failures than we ever imagined... Is the A4 1.8T engine the same as the TT 1.8T and then what about the Beetle, Passat and Jetta 1.8T? if so why would the coil packs be different? Hmmm?

The VW 1.8T has/had failing coil packs too, my 02 Jetta 1.8T is after 9000 miles still fine. So is my 02 A4 3.0. IMHO the perception on cp failures on this forum has been exaggerated beyond reality. Sure it is an uncomfortable problem for clients,AoA and Bosch alike but I wonder at what scale this is really happening. You'll see far less whining and moaning on the vwvortex forums. But then again, perhaps there is truth in the statement from AoA recently about the way the coils are put into the cars having an effect?

a friend of mine works at a saab/vw dealership in long island n.y. from what he has told me, this is not an exagerration. he said volkswagens jettas and gti etc are there all the time because of cp failures.

So this could be a huge Audi/VW recall issue above and beyond A4's

Default More sophisticated, new electronics in coil pack head and therefore more failures.

High infant mortality from inadequate testing or a last minute production change.

Default just to FINALLY clear up the figures from our dealer....

they have 22 on the lot at the moment, and have dealt with 650 cars overall for coils.

Just the audi dealer, dont know about the VW one next to it.
