DAMN....F'in APR chip is no good....long
To give a little background on my situation..I got a stage 1 APR chip 2nd hand from someone on this forum for $250, the chip was loaded with 4 programs plus anti theft. So basically I couldn't pass up this deal! Seller was very friendly and hopefully I'll be able to get my money back. Here goes............
Ok so I head over to KTR Performance this morning to get my chip installed and dyno'ed. Everything is going well, got a tour of this place, and DAMN is it impressive!!! I won't go into it in this post but I'll just say that they had a $7-9million ferrari in the showroom! Scott was great showing us arround and giving us the history of the place.
Scott came to get us and said that the car was wrenched down on the dyno, and redy to go if we wanted to watch. The tech did the 3 base runs (car sounded sweet!) then started to pull the ECU. Upon the check of the chip with the computers @ KTR they kept getting error messages stating that something was wrong. Upon closer inspection it turns out that the person who removed the chip from the previous owners car soldered off some diodes that NEED to be on the chip in order for it to work. So basically the chip is shot. KTR just recently (this past tuesday) switched from an APR dealer to GIAC. The went with this because they felt that it's a better chip/company for the $. So I guess I'll be buying a new GIAC chip or just get flashed for $599....Oh well as my friend Justin said today, "Dude, you'll learn that with modding our cars, (he's got a TRUE Dinan 3) you almost never get it right the first time."

"You almost never get it right the first time." Yeah no doubt.. some of the veterans on this board.
*cough*A4NCAR*cough* can attest to that!
I don't think it sounds like anything that APR did wrong though, correct? It sounds like something the person who took out the chip, did wrong, no?
