Default do I have to worry about coilpacks on a 02 3.0 quattro?

I just got a certified pre owned 2002 3.0 quattro and the guy said it had the original coils because the problem didn't effect the 3.0 engine. is this correct or should I ask them to change them? which cars did the recall refer to?

Default 02 3.0 coils ARE affected, but not to the degree that 1.8T coils are affected.

02 3.0s will be included under the recall when it happens. However, until then, Audi wont replace those coils unless one of them blows.

Default The word here is that coilpack failure rates are slightly above normal for the 3.0s

If you can get them replaced, then you should. But chances are, if you've already handed over a check, they wont.

Default Those are the rates of failure?

That graphic looks like its showing what percentage of the total failures is made up by each A4 trim, e.g., (# 3.0 cars with cp failure) / (total # of cars with cp failure)

Wouldnt a failure rate for a 3.0 = (# 3.0 cars with cp failure) / (# of 3.0 cars produced) ?
