Default does the 1.8T really not last as long as regular engines?

I'm wondering how long the 1.8t engine lasts because I've heard that turbo engines have a shorter life span, especially when its also a 4 cylinder since it has to work alot harder. Is this information true?
because i want a new car with a new engine that can last me a long time. How many years do you think the 1.8t will last me without making $1000's of dollar repairs.

Default "Regular" engine? Regularly aspirated Audi engine lasts just as long as turbo. A KIA engine, not as

long. Generally, engine life is based more on design and metallurgy than if it has a turbo or not. Some cars have superchargers, which do not produce heat like a turbo, but have their own reliability issues. Consider the turbo an advantage and be glad that you have one. What other engine feature can give you an extra 100+ horsepower? If you run out of gas with it hot, yes it will fail, but a new turbo is not expensive.

You mean to tell me that without the turbo the 1.8 produces about 70 hp? Wow.

Three times it's been listed as one of the 10 best engines. Unreliable engines don't win those kudos
