Is it a bosch or mann and maschle oil filter? Some sites list these as oem.

Mann/Mahle/Langenfelter (sp.) make the OEM filters.

So the ones sold on clair parts are really Mann/Mahle oil filters with the Audi/VW labels? I have seen ones on importpartsbin.com from Mann/Mahle without the labeling. I assume then those are the same filters.

Bosch Premium #3500 is a good bet. Easy to find at AutoZone. Synthetic media.

Default It's about as close to oem as you can get. $5 vs $15 for theirs.

If it actually caused a problem, ok maybe it is not oem. I could live with that risk.

Default Thanks. Dealer wants $13, Clair parts is $9.50 + shipping, trying to save some $$$ w/o compromising

the car or quality.

Default I've been liking the Bosch Premium because of the Filtrite synthetic media.

Finer filteration.
