don't... it causes more probs than it solves, besides
you would need to mix a large amount of octane booster with your gas to get any significant increase in octange.

I use Toluene every 3-6 months as a fuel system cleaner. It is an octane booster, but you
have to add a lot to see any performance affects.
Paint supply stores sell it in alumin 1/2 gallon cans labeled as Toluol (sp?). I usually put half of it in the A4 and the other half in my Jeep.
