Default Easy DIY - 1rst of 3: Oil Change

I had to do an oil change today and decided to do a few things and get a few write ups going. The first one is a step by step oil change (I don't think I forgot anything).
I decided to add a bit of Seafoam to the oil (it's supposed to help with potential sludge problems, I don't know if it works or not).
<img src="http://i132.photobucket.com/albums/q33/x1rider/changepost3.jpg">
I like to get the car warmed up so the oil flows better and all the contamination is in suspension, also to mix the Seafoam with the oil. Then I jacked up the car on ramps and used jackstands as a precaution.
<img src="http://i132.photobucket.com/albums/q33/x1rider/changepost2.jpg">
Here is pretty much all I needed to do the servicing.
<img src="http://i132.photobucket.com/albums/q33/x1rider/changepost1.jpg">
I removed the belly pan.
<img src="http://i132.photobucket.com/albums/q33/x1rider/changepost4.jpg">
Pic of the oil pan with the plug on the side.
<img src="http://i132.photobucket.com/albums/q33/x1rider/changepost5.jpg">
Pic of the oil filter.
<img src="http://i132.photobucket.com/albums/q33/x1rider/changepost6.jpg">
I removed the oil cap to allow the oil to flow easily.
<img src="http://i132.photobucket.com/albums/q33/x1rider/changepost8.jpg">
I used this strap ratchet attachment to remove the old oil filter.
<img src="http://i132.photobucket.com/albums/q33/x1rider/changepost7.jpg">
<img src="http://i132.photobucket.com/albums/q33/x1rider/changepost9.jpg">
Pic with the oil filter removed.
<img src="http://i132.photobucket.com/albums/q33/x1rider/changepost10.jpg">
I removed the oil plug (19mm).
<img src="http://i132.photobucket.com/albums/q33/x1rider/changepost11.jpg">
Now get out of the way and watch the oil flow!!!
<img src="http://i132.photobucket.com/albums/q33/x1rider/changepost12.jpg">
I replaced the stock plug with an ECS magnetic plug with copper crush washer. The magnetic plug will help keep metallic contamination down in the oil pan.
<img src="http://i132.photobucket.com/albums/q33/x1rider/changepost13.jpg">
I screwed and torqued the new plug (14mm, torqued at 22.13 ft-lbs).
<img src="http://i132.photobucket.com/albums/q33/x1rider/changepost14.jpg">
<img src="http://i132.photobucket.com/albums/q33/x1rider/changepost15.jpg">
I then put a bit of oil on the new filter's rubber seal.
<img src="http://i132.photobucket.com/albums/q33/x1rider/changepost16.jpg">
I took a few seconds to inspect the old oil, see if there was anything strange (ie. indication of coolant in the oil, etc...), everything looked fine.
<img src="http://i132.photobucket.com/albums/q33/x1rider/changepost17.jpg">
I then hand-tightened the new filter in place.
<img src="http://i132.photobucket.com/albums/q33/x1rider/changepost18.jpg">
Now, time to add the new oil (1.8T oil capacity is 3.5L).
<img src="http://i132.photobucket.com/albums/q33/x1rider/changepost19.jpg">
I started the car and made sure I didn't rev the engine until the low oil light shuts off (not to screw the turbo). The low oil light didn't light up at all in my case.
<img src="http://i132.photobucket.com/albums/q33/x1rider/changepost20.jpg">
Reset the service interval meter.
<img src="http://i132.photobucket.com/albums/q33/x1rider/changepost21.jpg">
I then got off the ramps, brought the car to operating temperature and double checked the oil level to make sure everything was ok.
<img src="http://i132.photobucket.com/albums/q33/x1rider/changepost22.jpg">
All done!!! Like I said, I'm pretty sure I included everything, let me know if you spot any errors in the write up.

Looks like your oil cap gasket is ready for a change. Nice write up.

Default thanks, I thought...

I have to do it anyway, might as well take pictures and do a little write up, if it can eventually help someone else, great.

Default Yeah, I have the gaskets ready, I'm just waiting...

to be done polishing my valve cover and intake manifold. When all is done, I'll just do one big swap.
