Default Ebay Feelings

I was wondering what people have had luck with Ebay. I have had pretty good luck, but there have been a number of circumstances where individuals sellers have been problematic. Recently I puchased some items for my Audi and found out that the where not what I expected. I requested that I return the items to the seller and the sellers response was "your sales contract was final". In no such way was this ever stipulated in the listing what so ever. Correct me if I am wrong, but is it not up to the user to stipulate the agreement. In addition the seller would like me to refund the shipping costs, paypal fees, and ebay listing cost when in fact the auction ended before the sellers price was met. I would like to know what people think.

Default well...

as far as shipping costs that should have been up to the seller to mention that the buyer was paying for them, if not mentioned on the ebay auction page in the shipping section then i don't see why you should have to pay for them...
as far as paypal fees, and ebay listing cost, the seller should have taken these into consideration when he put the auction up, if he really wanted these to be covered then he should have set a mimimun bidding price... now if he accepted the highest bid eventhough it didn't meet his reserve then that's his lost...
now as far as returning the items, that's might be a bit more complicated...

I think he means seller wants those costs covered if the item is returned.

Default gotcha...

well i would still not pay them... the seller should have better described the condition of the items... however and unfortunately i'd have to say that the buyer should pay for shipping it back...

I agree with Stephane. Caveat emptor. Buyer beware.

Default other musings...

in general i guess it depends on what you are bidding on...

obviliously "one of a kind" abstract products - you should be wary of (see that 20hp+ resistor chip) things like mirror caps from europe are also notorious items...

in the end, be wary of products you have not seen on others cars...plenty of people have bought wheels, grilles, brakes, hell even nav+ units - so ebay can be great find...

sadly, fer yer own protection, with most items - id stick with the GB and work over places like modsport or purems for deals...

Default haha.. you know they fit perfectly. But the locks are the wrong size. I just gotta figure out how to

mod them to fit. I'm thinking silicon or double sided tape.

Default Put yourself in the sellers shoes.

If you bought something from a private seller and don't like it, isn't that your problem? If they are nice enough to allow you to return it, why should they be out a single red cent? It was you who changed their mind, not them, and now they have to relist the item and waste more of their time.

Only in the case where the item was misrepresented do you have the slightest leg to stand on, and even then you should do your homework and not buy unless you are 100% confident.
